Another song prompt!

I love this song. It makes me think about Bradley being blown away by the awesome Colin: "I spoke about wings. You just flew. I wondered, I guessed and I tried. You just knew."

(Of course, Bradley is just as awesome in his own ways. You don't need me to tell you that.)

I have often written Bradley as a bit sub - so my prompt is to match him up with the pov character in the Queen song "She Makes Me" written and performed by Brian May.

The identity of the She (or He) of the song is up to you.

Warning: This evocative song implies the death of the pov character at the end, but for our purposes I'm more than happy for this to be "the little death"!

Apologies for not posting sooner about how our community might continue on, given that the annual Prompt Fest has dwindled. (Life, you know...?)

[livejournal.com profile] archaeologist_d suggested (and I'm expanding on her thoughts) that we make prompting and responding more informal, e.g. a prompt in a post, with responses of comment!fic ranging from scraps of dialogue to full stories, or from doodles to full artworks, based on the creator's inspiration of the moment.

She also suggested we feel free to discuss the cast and their work, past, present and future. Which might of course feed into the above prompts-and-responses creating fictional works.

I am totally for all of this. (My only concern is where we draw the line in acknowledging that we are discussing the public personas of real people. We all draw that line in different places, but I think if we proceed with the notion of treating the cast and each other with respect, then hopefully we won't go far wrong.)

I have one other concern, and that is why this hasn't been happening already. The annual fests grew out of ongoing activity here, and weren't meant to replace it. Maybe we just needed to remember that?

In any case, I will post a couple of prompts, and welcome anyone doing the same. Let's see how we go!

Greetings, all!

As you may have noticed, I haven't kicked off a new fest this year. It's probably fairly clear why. Alas, participation in the fests has dwindled over recent years, and our Prompts Fest 2022 resulted in only one fic. And there is little to no activity outside the fests.

I still love our delightful Merlin cast, as I'm sure you all do, too - but maybe the creative oomph has left the community? I'd be very happy if we could continue on in some form or other, so please let me know what you think, or if you have any ideas about how we can continue to create the RPF goodness.

Trusting that 2023 will be good to you all!

love, Mrs L

And here we go, with our first revealed work for Prompt Fest 2022! (Which is actually in response to a prompt in 2021!)

Title: And in the End
Your name: [livejournal.com profile] mrs_leary
Fanwork type: fic
Fanwork word count: 2574 words
Rating: M
Character(s) and/or Pairing(s): Bradley/Colin, Eoin, Katie
Summary: Bradley is shocked to discover that Katie is heavily pregnant. The identity of the father remains a secret - which Bradley doesn’t mind. What he does mind is that she’s setting up a home with both Colin and Eoin...
Disclaimer: This flight of fancy has nothing at all to do with the actual Bradley James, Colin Morgan, Katie McGrath or Eoin Macken. The story is purely imaginary, and is not intended to cause offence.

NB: I'm only aware of one other fic for the fest, which I will be posting to LJ tomorrow. If anyone else is ready to go, please either post directly to the AO3 collection, or drop me a note. Thank you! ♥

Afternoon, all! It's time to check in, and post your fanworks to our AO3 collection here: https://archiveofourown.org/collections/MerlinRPF_PromptFest2022

If your fanwork(s) are ready to go, just post them to the collection. (They will appear as unrevealed Mystery Works.) You can post directly to the collection, if you wish, without claiming and filling a specific prompt.

If you need a little more time, then please comment on this post and let me know when your work will be ready. Or if you have any queries or concerns, please comment here or DM me. All comments will be screened.

I will start revealing the works - one per day - and posting a link to them here on LJ and DW, from Saturday 7 May.

I'm really looking forward to enjoying some more Merlin RPF!

Hello, all! Given the increasingly tenuous nature of life on LiveJournal, this is just a reminder that the Merlin RPF community does have a mirror site on Dreamwidth. If you're on Dreamwidth, too, please do join us!

The link: https://merlinrpf.dreamwidth.org/

Until now it's basically been a mirror site, but if the worst comes to the worst here on LJ, that's where you'll find us...

Oh! And also on AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/collections/merlinrpffests

I hope you are doing well in these fraught times. ♥

Alack and alas, we have only received 3 prompts so far!!! So if you can add more prompts, that would be greatly appreciated. But you can also go ahead and start claiming prompts, too, as you wish. Feel free to claim any prompts in the 2021 collection as well!

The prompts are listed here:

Our guidelines and rules are listed on the Profile page.

Please feel free to add more prompts while the fest is running. Claiming will also remain open until the due date of 30 April.

Your imaginings in either form will be very welcome! ♥ Merlin RPF forever!

Welcome to The Merlin RPF Promptacular Fest of 2022 - hosted on AO3!

Since I became mod, we've held five Prompt Fests and one Mini Bang. To be honest, it seems we're running out of steam at this stage. However, I figured it was worth trying one more round!

We are taking advantage of the terrific functionality of the AO3's Prompt Meme collections to run this fest. I will keep posting to this LJ community to a minimum, but will at least mark the relevant dates and do a wrapping-up post at the end of the fest.

Schedule

  • Wednesday 12 January: Open for sign-ups and prompts.

  • Sunday 30 January: Open for claims.

  • Saturday 30 April: Assignments due.

  • Saturday 7 May: Fanwork reveals begin.

The fest is now open for you to sign up and add your prompts! Here's the AO3 link again so you can go forth and prompt to your heart's delight!

The FAQ and Rules can be found on the fest's Profile page here.

I'll post some banners separately. I'd really appreciate you spreading the word!

If you have any queries, please comment here.

And I'm really really looking forward to what you come up with! ♥
