A small survey...

This post is obviously a very poor decision on my part, especially a second before I turn in for the night, but just out of curiosity...

If you've seen the Merlin DVD extras (of the first volume, of course), did it contribute to a Merlin RPS shipping or did it simply serve to reinforce a shipping you were already into? And who do you ship in the fandom?

My reply is in the comments, in case anyone wonders what brought all this on. *coughs nervously*

Hmm. Well, I didn't get to see the DVD extras until well after they came out, so I guess both (meaning that I enjoyed RPF before I saw the extras, but I didn't have much of an interest in it until after the extras came out.)

I was already on the slippery slope - those extras just pushed me over the edge far sooner than I thought. Lol. Seriously though, they really added to it, and it has to be Colin/Bradley. I can only see Katie/Angel in relation to their characters, Gwen/Morgana.

I didn't quite ship Bradley and Colin before the extras, though I smiled at the thought and I wouldn't have broken into tears if they were to come out as a couple. Watching the extras, though, made me see some Colin/Bradley connection.

Then I told my friend that and she said she would have shipped Bradley and Angel rather than Bradley and Colin based on the extras.

That made me stop and wonder - is there Bradley/Angel there that I'm not seeing? Have my slashy tendencies taken over my brain?

Because when she talked about B&A banter, obviously I was aware of it, but on a subjective level of perception, I saw it more as Angel having a bit of a crush on Bradley, who plays along with it, because he's comfortable with her. Because he's crushing on Colin.

So basically, I would love to hear people's thoughts and to discover through them whether it really is just my warped brain that can no longer respond to het or what...

I have felt from the cooking show onwards that Bradley crushes on Colin. In the extras, he spends a lot of time videoing Colin, both openly and surreptitiously, and also says his name an awful lot which is telling. As are the mock bullying/fighting; that's one way boys with a crush they aren't yet sure will be returned get physical or expend energy on each other. (Yes, been there).

And I think Bradley's comfortable with Angel and likes her a lot. But I feel that way about my bezzie too; she's completely ace. I just wouldn't go "horizontal jogging" with her :)

I feel exactly the same way - to me the Bradley/Angel banter was more like sibling banter than anything crush-y. And while I liked the idea of Bradley/Colin before the extras ... well, they definitely cemented it ;)

I was shipping them since the moment I saw the interview they did on that talk show (foods show?). The way Bradley gave all his attention to Colin whenever it was Colin turn to speak. :D Also, it doesn't help that I came from SPN J2 fandom.

*lol* I went searching for that interview on YouTube following the extras, I just had to know if there's more out there and then, there was. :D The attention to Colin when he speaks, like you said, and the whole "bit of a bond" thing and also, the way he's staring at Colin when the clip from the show is over. Like he's just waiting for the opportunity to talk to him. XD

ahaha, yeah. I was actually a bit doubtful about this pairing before I saw the DVD extras--I just couldn't imagine that they had any sort of connection. THE VIDEO DIARIES KILLED ME THOUGH--in a really FANTASTIC way:D

I can't even tell you how much I love Bradley and Colin's dynamic (what we've seen of it, anyway)!I love, love, love that it's the pretty, golden boy going after the awkward, skinny boy with big ears.

Mmmmm, I was kinda liking the idea, but thinking that it can't possibly be more than an idea. Just because they're incredible slashy on screen doesn't automatically mean they are off screen as well, right?

*gasp* I know, right? :D It made me all sorts of happy in places one shouldn't be happy in when one watching DVD extras. ;p

Well, personally, my very first experience with slash has been football RPS, so I must admit I do love my real person fic a lot, and often even jump to shipping real people before fictional ones. *sheepish grin* That wasn't the case with Merlin, but Bradley/Colin has been in the back of my mind since the beginning, and the moment I saw the Something For The Weekend video I was sold. XD And really glad to see more and more people converted to the dark side. *g*

The extras, of course were just pure gold. I mean the fact alone that they filmed that video diary and put it on the DVD is awesome =D. What I love about these two is that to me, it seems like they 90% surely wouldn't really notice each other under normal circumstances (e.g. in school), but they got stuck together in this and they made it work. <3

Plus, I like to think that it's impossible that such powerful onscreen chemistry would have absolutely no roots off-screen. ;P

Really? *curious* Who did you ship in football RPS? I think I'm generally more hesitant about RPS because I know that if I really get into it and they're not actually into each other, it would hurt. :( So my joining the bandwagon dark side really says something about Bradley/Colin. ;)

Something that I liked was that it was mentioned how the director was getting to know them and use more and more of who they are on screen. And I was all, ohhh... so that's why we're getting increased amounts of slash as we progress! XD I'm dying to know whether they had to audition together with the producers having in mind specifically two guys who they thought would make a great couple. *g*

Apparently I'm alone in my lust for Katie/ASH rpf. That ship was spawned from my love of Uther/Morgana but more recently it's due to my view that SUCH AMAZING CHEMISTRY ONSCREEN has to come from somewhere offscreen.

I need to see more Katie interviews.

I kind of adore Bradley/Angel but am still unsure whether I like them in a platonic or romantic sense.

I have no idea what to think about them being together or not, only that Bradley does seem to have a crush on Colin (as I see it) and that Colin struck me as gay since the very first time I saw him on Doctor Who. That doesn't mean anything, but it does open up some options... ;)

By the way, your icon... I have to ask, where is it from? Not who made it, but where is it from? If it was in the extras, I missed that shot and I'm a very bad shipper. :|

I'm another one, who immediately after the Something For The Weekend video was asking "where's the RPS?"
Bradley was so enamored of Colin (his little heart bump!) and Colin just happily watched Bradley as he talked (and talked and talked. ;-)

The Diaries were pure squee! I saw Bradley and Angel as very friendly together, but it's Colin Bradley mostly spends time with, talks about, gets totally stoned with looks for to share things with ....

I wish there had been more Katie in the extras--to get an idea of Katie/Angel or Katie/ASH. There's just not much to go on. (Not that I wouldn't read it anyway. ;-)

I know, right? :D I loved his little heart bump! And that he first got the wrong side of his chest. XD So precious. And Colin! OMG, that boy is love. He needs to be cuddled. Every single day. And by someone who's totally into him Bradley (I could have saved myself the strike through, they're interchangeable).

*nods* The way I put it to my friend was, "it's Colin that Bradley wants to show his big spider to!" I'm not sure that amused her very much. :">

Yeah, there's not much to go on. The way I picture her right now is that she's just not into anyone particularly on the show, but who knows. Maybe, unlike the boys, she just understands the meaning of the word discreet.

I actually have no idea what made me start to ship Bradley/Colin. :/ I've seen bits of the DVD extras, but I'm not getting the DVD until Christmas and I'm doing my best not to 'spoil' myself, as it were. *massively impatient, though!* When I do see them, I imagine they will only serve to reinforce my love for the pairing. :P

I saw them on Something For The Weekend, and that was probably the point where I first realised that not only do I love the characters they play, but the actors themselves.

As for the RPS ... I think it may have been the Anonymous Kink Meme that tipped me over into RPS-land. XD

I've been into RPS in my last two fandoms, so I guess I would have sooner or later checked out Bradley/Colin. But yes, the DVD extras did seal the deal for me.

*puts tinhat on* Just something about how Bradley likes to tease Colin and how he admits to "not getting" him in the beginning, but now he realises that Colin is something special.

I don't automatically turn to RPF/RPS in my fandoms, there has to be a certain chemistry between the actors for me to work with, and Bradley and Colin definitely have it.

Oh and I so believe Bradley put that spider in his tub on purpose to lure Colin into his hotel room at night ;-)

That's such an extraordinary way for one guy to refer to another guy, I was obviously smiling inappropriately when I heard that. ;D

And that's it, that's precisely me, needing to see that there is something ther in order to subscribe to the slash. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Colin and Bradley do have that certain something.

*snorts* I would not be surprised. Although if that is the case, someone really needs to teach that boy a lesson in effective courting... ;p
