A small survey...
This post is obviously a very poor decision on my part, especially a second before I turn in for the night, but just out of curiosity...
If you've seen the Merlin DVD extras (of the first volume, of course), did it contribute to a Merlin RPS shipping or did it simply serve to reinforce a shipping you were already into? And who do you ship in the fandom?

The extras, of course were just pure gold. I mean the fact alone that they filmed that video diary and put it on the DVD is awesome =D. What I love about these two is that to me, it seems like they 90% surely wouldn't really notice each other under normal circumstances (e.g. in school), but they got stuck together in this and they made it work. <3
Plus, I like to think that it's impossible that such powerful onscreen chemistry would have absolutely no roots off-screen. ;P

Something that I liked was that it was mentioned how the director was getting to know them and use more and more of who they are on screen. And I was all, ohhh... so that's why we're getting increased amounts of slash as we progress! XD I'm dying to know whether they had to audition together with the producers having in mind specifically two guys who they thought would make a great couple. *g*

Hm, interesting thought there, about getting really into it and being disappointed ... I suppose I've always been aware that RPS is *really* "pushing it" and that most of the time we're simply choosing to see the reality in our own way *g* but sometimes, I do forget that they're

*giggles* Well, it's fairly obvious that they have at least one slash fangirl/boy on the team, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were all, "WE NEED REAL SEXUAL TENSION HERE!" XD
Another thing, even if there really are no fangirls/boys on the team, by now at least someone there should've caught on the gay vibes and not-so-subtle innuendos in the show (hello there, 1x04). I wonder if they pointed it out to the guys or tease them about it or what. =D

I think the problem with me and RPS is that I was spoiled right off the bat. I got actual confirmation about two of my RPS fandoms, that the guys in them were an item, so I feel like when fangirls see something so strongly, it's usually because it's there. But that doesn't mean fangirls can't be wrong from time to time and it hurts to think when is that time. :/ Because if it's in a fandom where you really adore the guys together, then it can be so disappointing, like you said.
It was! :D God, it makes me think they want us to slash Bradley and Colin as well. And you know, if you wish for something hard enough... ;p
Oh, have you seen the credits of the guys responsible for the show? Between As If, Synchronicity and Sugar Rush, I suspect they were all perfectly aware of what they were doing from the very get go. I wonder if they make it known during reading meetings! XD Because I have no doubt the gay subtext is there intentionally, and if it is, then why not talk about it to make sure your actors are portraying what you had in mind?

I read some Uther/Morgana and enjoyed it in that "it's so wrong it's kinda fun" way. But Katie/ASH would strike me as the kinda wrong that's just creepy, besides not seeing anything in particular between them in the extras. Then again, there wasn't much on there that didn't have to do with Bradley, was there? ;p (and if you were just being sarcastic, do tell me to shut up)
I like Bradley/Angel, but I don't see it in the same light. Do you think there really could be something between them or are you enjoying them as an idea? I'm honestly curious to hear other POVs!

Katie only had like 3 clips in the diaries. 2 of which were seconds long and had no ASH in sight. I like to think any clips with Katie and ASH around one another were too obvious to be shown to the public. Or they kept their love secret because both are already in relationships.
There really is too much chemistry between them as Uther and Morgana for there not to be at least a flirtation. Not the kind of thing you could ever show in family friendly DVD extras though.
To be fair, she's in her late twenties. That and older men are delicious. <3
I'm still not sure if I see Bradley/Angel as a couple or just as BFFs. Same with the Bradley/Colin relationship. Part of me feels like we read too much into everything.

Yep. And heh, now I can sort of see it. Okay, maybe it was just my impression, but I thought Katie kept more to herself and that's why she's not featured as much as the other people in the clips, but who knows? Maybe she was keeping ASH company...
It could be that they do flirt. There'd still be something wrong about it to me, but I guess if one goes for older men, you can't get any better than ASH.
A part of me thinks we may be reading too much into it, which is why I made this post. I mean, since to my understanding this isn't a strictly slashy community, there should be people around who see Bradley/Angel as romantic and maybe through their eyes I'd be able to see it too. But right now, I see way more, I don't know, tension (I guess) between Bradley and Colin vs. Bradley and Angel. But like you said, nothing conclusive and it could be just the tin hats that were glued far too well to our heads in other fandoms... *sighs*

Yeah this comm is het and slash but the merlin fandom is predominantly slash. I don't read the Merlin/Arthur fic so I guess I notice how rarely I have het to read. xD
